Billie Eilish answers to Kanye West’s demand that she apologise to Travis Scott for allegedly shading him during one of her recent gigs, or else Coachella would be cancelled.
Kanye West has been increasingly active on Instagram in recent weeks, usually venting his frustrations on Kim Kardashian and their family. And it appears that Ye has set his sights on a new target in the form of none other than Billie Eilish.
On Thursday, Kanye shared a photo of a RapSeaTV headline that read, “Billie Eilish Dissed Travis Scott at Her Concert After She Stopped Her Show to Give Her Fan an Inhaler!” In case you missed it, Billie pulled her Atlanta concert to a halt on Saturday night when she observed a fan near the stage crying for assistance.
Because it appeared that the fan in question was having problems breathing, Billie promptly dispatched her crew to get her an inhaler. Billie went on to say the following on the mike to placate the audience as the situation was being brought under control: “Calm, relax, relax. It’s OK, it’s fine. It’s OK, we’re fine. Hold on, we’re taking care of our employees. I wait for folks to say they’re fine before continuing.”
As you can hear a concertgoer remark in the background, Billie’s statements were construed by some other internet users as a jab at Travis Scott for how he handled the sad events at Astroworld. One of them appears to be Kanye West, who wrote in all caps on his Instagram post, “Come on, Billie. We are devoted to you. Please extend an apology to Trav and the families of those who have died. This was not in anyone’s plans. Trav was quite wounded by what transpired because he had no idea what was going on while he was on stage.”
“And sure, Trav will be with me at Coachella,” he added, “but now I need Billie to apologise before I perform,” he added. Travis was supposed to perform at Coachella in 2020, however the music event was cancelled that year as well as the next year due to the epidemic. Billie took over Travis’ original Saturday night place after the rapper was pulled from the festival due to the Astroworld tragedy. Now that all indicators point to Coachella happening this year, Billie has taken over Travis’ original Saturday night spot.
“Literally never mentioned a thing about Travis,” Billie remarked in a comment on Kanye’s Instagram post. “I was only assisting a fan.” Billie’s statement drew a lot of positive feedback from her admirers, including one person who said, “I got your back, Billie!” No need for apologies.” But there was also a lot of backlash from Ye’s followers, as one user put it: “It’s the manner you stated it, don’t seem oblivious.” The way you stated it reminded me of Astroworld!”
After this back-and-forth with Billie, Kanye made another post, this time about someone making fun of him for being off his medication, which he called out as dismissive and used as an opportunity to offer some advice, writing in part, “let’s be more conscious and not write each other off so easily.” He then posted another photo with Alicia Keys and Fivio Foreign, captioning it “City Of Gods.” It’s worth mentioning that it’s unclear if Ye planned to invite Travis onstage to play beside him at Coachella or simply to provide moral support.
